Treasurer Position Description

Below is a description of the responsibilities of the Treasurer on the board of directors for YNPN Triangle NC.

Responsibilities:

The Treasurer is a member of the Executive Committee and supports the YNPN Triangle NC strategic plan by providing leadership in the area of creating fiscal sustainability through effective planning, strategy, and communication. 

The Treasurer will:

  • In conjunction with the Executive Committee and Committee Chairs, develop the annual operating budget
  • Manage the monthly bookkeeping activities of YNPN Triangle NC
  • Manage the budget of YNPN Triangle NC, including accounts receivable and payable
  • Manage the general ledger of YNPN Triangle NC, ensuring reconciliation with bank account
  • Create monthly reports for each Board Meeting 
  • Engage in discussions with the Executive Committee and Board of Directors to track financial health of the organization and advise on financial projections
  • Work with the Fundraising Committee to ensure accurate booking of donations and tracking of sponsorship payments
  • In coordination with the Board Chair, manage banking relationships and serve as the signing officer for all accounts
  • Serve as the primary billing contact for all major vendors
  • Manage online auto-pay accounts
  • Prepare annual Charitable Solicitation License application for the NC Secretary of State
  • Prepare and submit relevant tax documents to the IRS in a timely manner
  • Manage the expense reimbursement process for Board and Committee members
  • Generate reports on the financial state of the organization for stakeholders per request
  • Manage ongoing optimization and knowledge management regarding Treasurer’s tasks as they grow and evolve

  • Awareness of YNPN nationwide network

Additional skills preferred:

  • Experience with QuickBooks preferred but not required 

Time Commitment:

15-20 hours per month for two years

(The Treasurer position entering this cycle will serve a one-year term to meet the organization’s strategic succession planning needs, finishing their term December 2023.)
